Falls Park on the Reedy is a 26 acre park located in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. I have visited this town several times and absolutely have no idea how I missed this absolutely spectacular park.
Reading about the area’s history, this part of downtown was very industrial and companies would use the river to dump their waste. They have done an awesome job of revitalizing this area. I particularly like the abandoned brick building that rather than tear it down, they stabilized it with structural steel and now use the inside for events. Great job Greenville!!
Poinsett Bridge is the oldest bridge in South Carolina and was built in 1820 as part of the road from Columbia, South Carolina to Saluda Mountain. The stone bridge includes a 14-foot Gothic arch and stretches 130 feet over Little Gap Creek. Speculation is the bridge was designed by Robert Mills, architect of the Washington Monument.
Looking out from inside the Poinsett Bridge which was built in 1820.
As I looked through the photos I took of Atalaya Castle I realized I needed to show more of this incredible seaside home built in the 1930’s. It was the winter home of industrialist and philanthropist Archer M. Huntington and his wife, the sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington and was built in Murrells Inlet, Georgetown County, South Carolina with no building plans.
It is a 200 foot by 200 foot masonry structure built around a large open courtyard and watch tower.
As I go through the picture I took at Atalaya in South Carolina, I keep finding more I like.
I had some fun playing with this picture and got a little creative with the color. I am pleased with the way it turned out.
